Brattle Screening of CSQDA is a Success. Nobody Dies (we're pretty sure).

The Brattle screening/ entertainment extravaganza went off with barely a hitch and almost certainly no fatalities. Somewhere between 60-70 came to witness CSQDA history: friends, family, people alerted by the exhaustive marketing campaign, and a few of the creepy lurkers that show up at all dimly lit events in Cambridge. Also...aliens? Judge for yourself from this pre-show picture:

After episode 1, stand up comedian Anthony Scibelli (aka lead villain Austin Tejas) had the crowd laughing with timely Davy Jones jokes. If we've learned anything from the great Gilbert Gottfried, its that its never too soon to laugh at the Monkees- living or dead.

Hot on his heels, the magician Alex Fleming (aka Lorenzo Von Vandermullen aka The Great Alex) gasted the flabber of the assembled crowds with slight of hand rope tricks performed punk style: sans sleeves.

Following episode 2, the stripped down Minor 3 rocked through Brian Connor's maddeningly catchy Episode 1 Metal Man theme song, followed by "Set in Stone" off their new EP (available here The Minor Three)

Hey! I remembered I had a camera in my pocket during this set:

Bemused drummer wonders why he only gets to play a snare with brushes.

Look Ma...I can take bad pictures from the balcony too.

Finally, the big moment arrived: The world premiere of The Adventure to Avenge Anastasia. Our two intrepid detectives returned one last time to hunt down the yegg or yeggs who bumped off Annie. Although Johnny DID seem a little different: maybe it was the French-Canadian-Malaysian diet...or his new beard?!! As usual, the gumshoes found themselves embroiled in a case packed with vintage concert t-shirts and late 80's early 90's indie-humor musical acts like Too Much Joy and Al and George (before they sold old and went commercial.) Catch the full HD version here: CSQDA Ep. 3   or purchase a DVD of alll the episodes here: CSQDA DVDs

When the curtain finally closed on the Central Square Detective Agency trilogy and the house lights came up, we reached the most important moment of the night: the raffle of the famed Detectopus (as seen in episodes 2 and 3). I'm pleased to announce Erin Tackney of Cambridgeport walked away with our crocheted friend,  and I'm sure he'll have a long and happy life together with his rapacious feline housemate, Frau Meow. (Luckily, octopode's arms grow back.)

Thanks to everyone who came and helped to make this screening a success. Be sure to look for the CRSDT's next effort coming soon to your multiplex and CCTV: The Revenge of the Seven Armed Detectopus.
